Moscow Summer School 2017 “Global Challenges”

This year during August 2017 the Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy offers a three week Summer School 2017 “Global Challenges” where students from all around the world meet to take part in an intensive multicultural experience, delve into challenging political topics and discover the unforgettable cultural and recreational opportunities that Russia and its capital city have to offer.
The Summer School Moscow at the Russian Foreign Ministry Diplomatic Academy gives students a great opportunity to expand and develop skills in different fields of International Relations and World Politics. It provides a multi-disciplinary and inclusive approach to the study of complex political issues and challenges that the world is facing today.

The program is challenging, stimulating and of high academic and professional value. The courses are taught by professors of highly regarded faculties of the Academy: “International Relations”, “International Economics” and “World Economics”, supported by meetings with Russian and foreign prominent diplomats, public men, policy makers and the global international community.

The Summer School Moscow “Global Challenges2017” is a multidisciplinary course. It focuses on the global challenges, including the political, economic and security issues that shape and reconfigure the architecture of the international system. Its major goal is the analysis and understanding of the policy and strategic framework that shape geopolitics, economy and international development as well and of the strategy of the major global actors.

The Academy will hold an International conference on one of the burning international global issues. The conference will be supported by the DA Institute of Contemporary International Studies (ICIS), the UN Information Centre and CTBTO. The conference will be interwoven in the summer school process and the students will get certificates of participation in it.

In addition to the excellent educational opportunities, it offers the chance to discover Russian culture, the city of Moscow and the surrounding countryside as well as to grasp one of the most widely spoken languages in the world the Russian language. The Russian language classes are available for students at all levels.

Upon successful completion, the program is worth 5 ECTS credits which may be recognized as part of ongoing studies.

Throughout 3 weeks in the month of August 2017 students may join the School to strengthen their universities’ transcripts, to build their career skills or to gain specialized knowledge for their career. They will also benefit from a wide range of social and cultural activities and will make friends from all over the world.

To apply students should:

  1. fill in the online application form
  2. send:
  • digital photo
  • scanned copy of Passport
  •  contact telephone/fax
  • address of the Russian Embassy or consulate where to apply for visa
  • medical insurance

After having received the acceptance email the students are kindly requested to proceed with the payment within a few days.

The Academy provides visa support for foreign students provided the above-mentioned documents are submitted in due time before 09 June 2017.

Cost - 970 $ (nine hundred seventy US dollars)

The program fee includes:

Students will be offered optional trips outside Moscow, which are paid upon their arrival in Moscow.

N.B. ISIC cards holders can enjoy a lot of discounts in Moscow.

ACCOMODATION

Summer school 2016 participants will be housed in the Academy hostel which offers different kinds of lodging. The hostel occupies a 12 storey block of flats and comprises from one-room (studio) to three room flats. Students can prepare their own meals in the dormitory kitchen facilities, eat at one of the student cafeterias or enjoy the local cuisine in the Academy cafe. The hostel is located close to the Metro; it takes about 20 minutes to reach the Academy. The hostel room reservation will be made upon receipt of fee payment.
