On November 1, 2018 a ceremony was held at the Dublin Airport dedicated to the opening of direct flights between Moscow and Dublin.

Aeroflot flight arriving from Moscow was met by the Russian Ambassador to Ireland Yury A. Filatov, the Chief Financial Officer of Dublin Airport Ray Gray and Aeroflot General Manager in the UK and Republic of Ireland Alexey Voronenkov. In their brief speeches, they noted the great importance that direct air link between the capitals of Russia and Ireland will have for the development of Russian-Irish ties in trade, humanitarian and cultural areas, and promotion of contacts between people.

3 October, 2018, the Ambassador of Russia to Ireland Yury A. Filatov met with Lord Mayor of Dublin Nial Ring. During conversation the sides exchanged their views, in particular, on perspectives of development of fruitful mutual cooperation between Dublin and Moscow.

On July 4, Ambassador Yury Filatov took part in a debate on topical issues on the international agenda and Russia-Ireland relations. The debate was organized by the 1916 clubs.
